Boston Harbor Islands Tour and Visit to Georges Island
September 20, 2015 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
What: Join other members of PBK Boston for a Sunday morning tour of the Boston Harbor Islands, a national and state park offering views of downtown Boston and the harbor environs. We will depart from Long Wharf North (66 Long Wharf, next to Christopher Columbus Park and close to the Blue Line Aquarium or Orange Line Haymarket T stops) at 12 Noon on Sunday morning, taking a 45-minute ferry ride past a number of the harbor islands to Georges Island, the site of historic Fort Warren, a Civil War-era fort know for its graceful granite archways. The plan is to tour the fort and stroll the island, followed by lunch, either from the island’s cafe or packed from home. After a 2 hour visit, we will take the 3 PM ferry back to Long Wharf, arriving there shortly before 4 PM.
The 2015 round-trip fares are $17 for adults and $12 for seniors and students. There is no fee to visit Fort Warren.
