Join PBK Boston for a Tour of the Longfellow House and Gardens

Calling all history, architecture and garden connoisseurs! Join us for a free Sunday tour of the Longfellow House and Gardens in Cambridge. Meet other members of PBK Boston in the course of enjoying the gardens and an educational tour of this historic location during an early summer afternoon. Guests are welcome, so bring a friend!
When: Sunday, June 28, 2015 at 2:30 PM
Where: The Longfellow House at 105 Brattle Street, Harvard Square area, Cambridge, MA
What: A National Historic Site, the mansion was primarily constructed in 1759, with a major addition added in 1791. It was home and headquarters to General George Washington during the Siege of Boston (1775-1776) and to poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow until his death in 1882. It remained a family property until 1950. This site, managed by the National Park Service. is one of the country’s finest examples of mid-Georgian architecture. The gardens and grounds are open to the public from dawn to dusk all year. The garden at Longfellow National Historic Site features over 30 different types of flowers in many colors.

Plan: We will meet in the gardens of the home 30 minutes prior to the 50-minute house tour at 3PM (no reservations are accepted, so sign up for the 3PM tour as soon as you arrive at the property – the next tour is at 4 PM). Cambridge allows street parking for non-residents on Sunday wherever it says Parking By Permit Only. The house is about 8 blocks from the Harvard Square T station.
